IMPORTANT UPDATE–WE’VE HEARD YOUR FEEDBACK

Based on feedback from participants, we are implementing two important operational changes starting Monday, November 6th, 2023. These changes are intended to create more equitable access to our services. We will be trying out these new processes to see how they work and appreciate your patience and understanding

NEW TUESDAY SHOPPING HOURS

Broomfield FISH will be open from 10 am to 3:30 pm on Tuesdays. Shopping hours throughout the rest of the week will remain the same. We are starting earlier shopping hours on Tuesdays to better accommodate individuals’ and families’ schedules. YOUR OPINION MATTERS– we are making this change based on feedback from you!

Starting Monday, November 6th, 2023, our marketplace hours will be as follows:

Monday: 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Tuesday: 10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Wednesday: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Thursday: CLOSED
Friday: 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm

NEW LOTTERY NUMBER SYSTEM & NUMBER SIGNAGE

FISH is typically the busiest right when we open, and the line outside of our building in the mornings has gotten longer and longer. We are concerned about people waiting in the cold once winter comes and we understand that some people are not able to get to FISH early to wait in line. So that everyone has the same opportunity to be first through the Marketplace, we will be trying out a new lottery system. We plan to pass out numbers at the start of shopping hours in order to prevent long lines and to discourage people from coming early. We will also have new electronic signs inside and outside the building that show what number we have most recently called.

How it will work:

  • Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before we start shopping hours (the time we usually open the front doors). Coming earlier will do nothing for you. Everyone in line 15 minutes before we open will be randomly given a shopping number through a lottery system, so there is no need for a line of any kind or to make your way to the front.
  • You must be physically present to receive a number.
  • You may only get a number for yourself/your family, and may not collect numbers for other people who are not there.
  • Anyone arriving after we have passed out initial numbers will go inside and pick up a number as usual.

Why are we doing this?

We recognize that not everyone has the ability to arrive before we open and wait in line for long periods of time. Everyone has different work schedules, school schedules, and access to transportation. We are trying the new lottery system to see if we can create a more equitable process for assigning numbers when we first open rather than it being decided by how early someone can get to FISH on any given day.

This lottery system will hopefully alleviate long lines before shopping hours, and encourage people to come at different times rather than when we first open. Our Food Operations team constantly restocks the marketplace to ensure that there are quality food options and great selection throughout the day, so there is not one single best time to shop.

With the seasons changing, we also do not want anyone to stand in the cold weather for extended periods of time to receive a better shopping number.

Thank you for your patience as we try these new processes!
