FISH's COVID-19 Response
Broomfield FISH has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and has made changes to our service delivery to protect the health of our participants, volunteers and staff. Per the CDC's recommendation for "social distancing," FISH is limiting face-to-face interactions and has shifted to a “pick-up” model of food distribution. We are also asking volunteers who are 60+ years of age, or anyone exhibiting cold or flu symptoms, to stay home for the next two weeks.
Low-income families--particularly hourly wage workers across industries--will be disproportionately impacted by the health and economic effects of this virus. We continue to offer basic needs’ services, while also preparing to meet what could be a skyrocketing need for food and financial support over the next several months. We have already ordered additional non-perishable foods and are identifying additional sources of funding for emergency financial assistance. In partnership with the City and County of Broomfield and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), FISH will help ensure that no residents go hungry and that we protect our most vulnerable populations.
At this time we will no longer be accepting food donations, kids snack bags, or personal care kits at our 6 Garden Center location. This assists FISH in limiting the number of people coming to our building and helps us minimize contact and the spread of the virus. Please check back frequently as our needs change through out the COVID-19 crisis.
