Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Broomfield FISH! Give the gift of your time and talent as a Broomfield FISH volunteer and make a direct impact.  Our volunteers are vital to the work we do! They sort and track food donations, meet with participants, assist at fundraising events and much more.

FISH is NOT accepting court-ordered community service volunteers at this time.

We have removed the volunteer shift sign up button from this website.

To sign up for a substitute shift, you must be an existing volunteer with us. All existing volunteers should have a link to the substitute sign up in their email. If you need the link again, please email Kimberly.Power@BroomfieldFISH.org.

Interested in becoming a volunteer? Please fill out our Volunteer Interest Form, and we will get back to you with next steps within a week.

Individual & Group Volunteer Opportunities (16+)

In our marketplace (pantry), we can only accommodate volunteers who are 16 or older. Volunteers aged 16 and 17 must have their paperwork signed by a parent or guardian.

How to Get Started:
Please fill out our Volunteer Interest Form if:

  • You are interested in volunteering on a regular basis.
  • You are interested in volunteering occasionally, or as a substitute.
  • Your company or organization wants to bring a group to volunteer.

Once you submit the form, our Volunteer Coordinator, Kimberly Power, will contact you within one week.

Please Note:

  • We conduct background checks on all individual volunteers aged 18 and older.
  • FISH is not accepting court-ordered community service volunteers at this time.

All Ages

Volunteers of all ages are always welcome to work on a service project off-site (at home, at school, etc.), or volunteer in our garden during the spring and summer months. Here are instructions for several of our most popular off-site projects:

School & Club Volunteer Hours

  • We encourage students needing service hours for school or clubs to sign up for a shift (ages 16+) or start their off-site project (all ages) several weeks in advance, especially around the holidays.

Youth Volunteer Opportunities

FISH’s Youth Engagement Squad (YES)!

FISH’s Youth Engagement Squad (YES) is made up of dedicated, energetic students in 8th through 11th grade who live and/or go to school in Broomfield and have an interest in community service. YES is a great opportunity to give back to the community, meet other youth from across the county, and enhance leadership skills.

The term runs from January to December 2026, with meetings once per month on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

Applications are typically available near the start of December each year and are currently closed.

If you are interested in joining YES in January 2027, we recommend signing up for our newsletter or following us on Instagram, LinkedIn, and/or Facebook to see announcements.

With the exception of those involved with the Youth Engagement Squad, you must be at least 16 years old to volunteer in the FISH Marketplace. A parent/guardian must sign your Volunteer Application if you are 16-17 years old. Due to COVID, FISH is NOT accepting court ordered community service volunteers at this time.

Volunteer Spotlight:

Matt and Shane Day

If you have visited our marketplace on a Friday morning, chances are you have met the amazing Day brothers! Shane (pictured on the left) joined FISH in October of 2022 to fulfill his high school service hours. He decided he loved his experience so much that he chose to continue being a weekly volunteer after he graduated. Then in June of 2023, Shane invited his fraternal twin brother Matt (pictured on the right) to volunteer with him. Matt also took to helping FISH and continued as a weekly volunteer. Shane and Matt enjoy stocking shelves and putting away food in the freezers. When stocking is finished, they both enjoy helping sort non-perishable items and helping senior participants with their groceries. Outside of FISH, both Shane and Matt are full-time students at MSU Denver. Shane is pursuing a degree in Aviation and Aerospace Management, while Matt is working towards a Bachelor’s of Psychology. Thank you Shane and Matt for all you do for FISH!
